Gartech Glue Wheel and Gartech Glue Shoe assembly layouts

The Gartech Glue Wheel and Gartech Glue Shoes function with the aide of several replaceable subcomponents. It isn’t uncommon to replace a key, bearing, or spacer in a (6) month timeframe. We urge all users of our Gartech Glue System to keep an eye on their equipment. Ignoring small maintenance items for too long can create larger, costlier problems, as well as reducing the performance of the Gartech Glue System. If you aren’t equipped for routine maintenance, you can schedule a service call with us in quarterly, semi-annual or annual visits.

For this entry, we’re focusing on the GAR-GU2-7016U/L series Upper and Lower Gartech Glue Shoes for use with 1-1/2″ glue tab pattern. While the basic principles and assemblies are the same regardless of shoe and wheel pattern sizes, some mounting bolts or spacers will vary in length when dealing with other glue tab widths. At present, we’ve glued tabs ranging from 3/16″ to 5″ in width. Also, any time you purchase a redress of a Gartech Glue Shoe, we’ll ship them back to you with the correct-length mounting bolt and a pressure-seal washer to help increase longevity and reduce waste-buildup.

We discuss the proper way to set the Gartech Glue Shoe metering plate to the Gartech Glue Wheel in this entry.

These subcomponents mount with some independence. It’s important to keep the Gartech Glue Shoe set to the Gartech Glue Wheel, so we always stress the need to double-check the setting of the Gartech Glue Shoe and metering plate before start-up.

This section is a bit more intricate, given its added function when adjusting box depth or opening during idle mode. Of course, Item no. 9, the GAR-GU3-2001 Lower Arm, pivots as a whole sub-unit, meaning the Gartech Glue Wheel and Gartech Glue Shoe pivot together to maintain its setting.

Design Series

Some part numbers feature a GU-, GU2-, or GU3- distinction. These reflect design changes that allow us to manufacture parts in a different manner, reduce excess material, or allow for greater interchangeability within our family of glue systems. If you’re concerned your part won’t fit the same because of one of these distinctions, please feel free to ask. However, if we’ve changed or enhanced a part’s function, we will let you know before we start your order. We want you to have the most practical, most beneficial experience with our products without having to maintain a full store of spare parts.
